COVID-19 Resources
COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) is a respiratory virus that tends to have a higher exposure risk during winter months. However, individuals are contracting COVID-19 throughout the year, and it can be life-threatening for those who live with Neuromuscular Disease (NMD), especially those with a weak and/or ineffective cough. The inability to effectively and quickly clear airway secretions (mucus), increases the risk of developing pneumonia and sometimes results in the need for hospitalization.
We compiled the following listing of educational resources to help you learn more about COVID-19. Always seek the guidance of your physician when you believe you may be experiencing illness. It is strongly recommended that you consult your NMD care team when diagnosed with COVID-19 or any respiratory virus.
