Our Community Reflects One Year Later

3/23/2021

So many are reflecting on where they are "one year later" after the one year anniversary of the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. We know everyone has had a different experience, and it was not an easy year for anyone. Some of our Breathe with MD community members shared their own positive reflections.

"My daughter has been amazing by isolating with me. I have a better bond with my assistance dog now after having her only 4 months before lockdown started; she’s kept me sane and taking her for a daily walk or free run really helped. Looking forward to 2nd vaccine and some normality…".
-Sharon

"Being home more has led me to keep in better touch through handwritten letters and making original artwork."
-Carole

"I’ve gone a full year without a respiratory infection, completed my second graduate degree, and crocheted two blankets. It’s been a tough year, but my friends have been incredibly supportive. We started a bi-weekly bible study and frequent game nights over video calls. I’ve actually been able to reconnect and build relationships with friends who no longer live in my state but since I can only hang out virtually, distance doesn’t matter. Several of my friends have told me they are getting vaccinated as soon as they are eligible just so they will be able to visit me again."

"I learned more about myself and how I interact with people around me.
People are more likely to consider alternative methods of communicating and achieving things."
-Joe

"One year later, I have recovered from scoliosis fusion surgery and am attending university (online)!"
- Lucinda

"One year later my family is stronger than ever. We realized we have resiliency based on our shared experiences that others don’t.
#SilverLinings"

-Sarah

"I cooked and baked more than I have in more than 20 years and learned to make several new things we now have regularly.  While in isolation, I grew to appreciate so many little things. I was also able to focus on paying down debts by saving money not traveling or getting daily lunches outside of my home. I also attended more online trainings than I have in the last three years, learning things I probably wouldn't have learned otherwise."
-Andrea
